Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception

Annunciation by Henry Tanner

The gospel for Saturday's feast, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, is the story of the Annunciation when the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary to tell her that she would conceive and bear the Christ.

The readings for today's liturgy can be found here.

(Keep in mind that this day on the calendar celebrates Mary being conceived without sin (immaculately) in the womb of her mother, Anna.  Since there is no scriptural account of this, the Church offers us the gospel of the Annunciation, the story of Christ being conceived in Mary's womb.)

This widget offers you five recordings of a song that tells the story in today's gospel.
